Tomas Haake playing

Tomas does some things that no other metal drummers sadly ever apply in their playing. They're called dynamics, ghost-notes, rudimental filling and grooving. It's a shame that no one else in the field really follows him because everybody are way more interested in getting the bass drum patterns trough and finding out the gear he's using. After all those are the basis of modern drumming technique. Metal generally sounds like whacking singles as loud one can whack. For some that's all there is.

@shadowfoam if we ever need the universe to not exist anymore we can have all three play at the same time :)
-
@ThinkmanSAm I'd have to suggest Morgen Agren as contender for a three-way-tie.

@ThinkmanSAm Gavin Harrison? Check out his stuff like Anesthetize or anything from the Pasic festival, he's easily as original as Carrey and Haake. And in some ways even better technically (he's a jazz drummer who became an extreme metal drummer. So you can imagine what he brings to the table).

@ThinkmanSAm both rad.... you gotta throw chris pennie in there too

sooo.. can anyone shed some light on how to play the groove in the beginning? lol i guess its just some super-syncopated swing stuff, but it sounds awesome. and at the moment i dont even wanna think about tackling the rest of what he plays in this video for fear that my brain will explode

Fläskigt är ett fint ord att beskriva Haakes trumspel med. :)

Hmmm.... top two drummers : Danny Carrey and Tomas Haake, most original, no question about it
