The Diskery is quite possibly Birmingham's most loved music store - with a history dating back well over half a century. They stock a diverse range of secondhand and rare vinyl records - including 78rpm jazz and swing. The Diskery also deal in vintage wind-up gramophones and accessories.
My thanks to Jimmy and Liam for their assistance in making this audio slideshow, Birmingham City University for the recording equipment - and to Jez at the Birmingham Music Archive.

Sadly Morris the owner of the shop died this week. I have been using this shop for 25 years and hopefully Jim and Liam will keep it going strong

I went to The Diskery for the very first time on Thursday. What a fantastic shop. Only in there for two minutes before Liam offered me a cup of coffee. What a nice bloke! Will definitely visit again when next in Birmingham.

Just visited The Diskery for the first time in over 50 years. Just like stepping into a time capsule. Jimmy was really helpful & went out of his way get me the music I wanted. Pay it a visit on your next trip to Brum

Been going the Diskery for most of my life, in fact I've probably bought 90% of my LPs from Jimmy. There's always a warm welcome and a cup of tea and Jimmy has me in fits every time. No longer live in Brum so don't get to visit as often as I'd like, but when I get the chance a visit to the Diskery is a must shops like this just can't be beat. Fondly remember all the other shops well, Dale-Vac, Virgin [when it was in a tiny shop next to the Victoria Law Courts] Happy days. Cheers Jim & Liam.
