I think i makes perfect sense. I once read some smaller sawmills in europe have still or have reinstalled steam engines to make electricity from the wood chippings.
If you dont have to pay for fuel and the machines hold up without any major maintenance, why change........

I like that they have incorporated computer technology with an old steam sawmill. They should go back to using steam in our mills and factories, they were a lot more reliable.
