One of college football's all-time greats passed away May 24th, 2007. Pete Demmerle who played such a critical role in this game died of ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Pete Demmerle was everything you would want in a collegiate athlete. All American, Academic All American and a special human being. He had the best hands and ran the most precise routes of any ND football player I have seen. May God Bless Pete Demmerle and those he loved!

The hitting in that game was incredible. Alabama had a tremendous team and the Bear and Ara were two great icons. Either team could have won, and it was the kind of game you must have been proud to say you played in. Very clean game with no trash talking. You just don't see this today. Only Alabama has as many knuckleheads trying to talk down their great achievements on the internet as the Irish. I respect Bama they are a great tradition.

The game had everything from a National Championship on the line to great defense, intense hitting, a kick return for a touch down, trick plays, great running games, great passing plays, and of course two legendary coaches competing at the highest level. A single point is all that seperated these two great teams. Your point of no trash talking is especially important. This was two classy and dignified teams competing for a championship. This was college football at it finest!
