Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec was born to an aristocratic family in Albi, in the Pyranees region of France. Toulouse-Lautrec had congenital health problems, due probably to the fact that his high-born Comte and Comtesse parents were first cousins, not an unusual thing for aristocrats. He fractured his thighs when he was young, and his legs stopped growing, leaving him barely five feet tall when he reached adulthood. But his talent was giant. When the Moulin Rouge opened for business, it commissioned Toulouse-Lautrec to produce a series of posters through the lithograph process. They were so successful that he ended up creating 363 posters and prints before his early death. He died at 36 from complications of alcoholism and syphilis. If you like his posters, check out the companion video, "Art of Henri de Toulouse Lautrec." It will demonstrate his mastery of oils and pastels. Music is Gioachino Rossini's "Cindarella Overture."

  • Le titre est a rectifier: LAUTREC et non LATREC; merci

  • Good work !

  • @bestjonbon, very nice collection. Thanks for sharing. But the music is jacques Offenbach's Galop Infernal from "Orpheus in the Underworld", more famous for being used as the CanCan tune.

  • doesnt this guy have any Pastel drawings?

i needed to reference 2 for my assignment but have been unable to find them anywhere

  • great video! I love the posters and the music :-)
