@UnnoticedBystander It doesn't provide power. When you start a furnace, it turns into a special non-legit block that is used by the game for the purpose of letting the furnace emit light and particles. When the block changes between a regular furnace and a special lit furnace block, it triggers something called a block update which causes the game to reload all the nearby blocks. As a result, the block update activates some redstone and pistons that retract the floor.

@iamjagman2 Well, I had to make the bud switch bigger, if not it would have messed up the wire that was connected to the piston, if that's what you mean :)
