What do you think causes PCOS?

I'm researching the endocrine system and want to come up with some viable explanations for what may cause PCOS. What do you think?

I've been doing a lot of research into the toxins found in our everyday environment and there is a lot of research that suggests that pthalates and parabens have a big impact on the male and female reproductive systems. We have unfortunately all been exposed to these chemicals since conception as they are everywhere - shampoo, cosmetics, children's toys, etc. It is very hard to get away from them. Perhaps this may have something to do with the rising infertility rates? I'm sure it is more ...

Whether or not it is the cause is beyond me (obviously); however, it seems more logical that those things *would* have an adverse effect on fertility (since they effect the reproductive systems anyways) then thatthey wouldn't. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

It is totally genetic , and we are born this way . My family history has many woman with pcos

I think its genetic and diet together because I have a couple family members that are not diagnosed but they have many of the lovely characteristics that PCOS has to offer haha...I have attempted the research in the past and it seems to get very complex and complicated to understand so It would be nice if some doctor could dummy it up for us haha you know bright cartoon pictures and arrows displaying the craziness haha :)

@ML0822 I agree! Everybody need to start with 'explain it to me like I'm 5.' It's just a lot of information! I recently learned that my Aunt has PCOS and my sister has a different fertility issue so I wonder. Thanks for the input!

PCOS is common for all the womens & nothing to worry. With PCOS many got pregnant.

@Angelalalynn Yup...in addition to my aunts I mentioned you reminded me I do also have two cousins on the same side of the family who have endometriosis and thyroid issues...there needs to be so much more research done on this but its probably a matter of raising funds for more research and awareness...hopefully in the near future.

@DanielleBabyBliss @DanielleBabyBliss I think your idea on industrialization and dietary changes makes a lot of sense. Genetics makes sense too, I know I have a relative with PCOS so, good thoughts! I'll share my opinions in a video soon.
