Drove to Landmannalaugar through vast lava fields. Stopped off on the way to admire a waterfall by a power station. At Landmannalaugar we went for a walk with amazing views of rhyolite ridges of rock. We saw steam hissing from a vent in the rock which smelt strongly of sulphur. Drove back past Hekla (1,491m), one of the countrys most active volcanoes, erupting at least 18 times since records began.
