People can say what they want about Torrence, but the truth is that she won this race: PERIOD! she could have run in the far outside of her lane and still won. Now that I look back in history, I believe that Torrence had the most integrity amongst the athletes of her time. She spoke out; whether you agreed or disagreed, on what she thought was unfair.

Gwen is the best. The truth is she won 100&200 at 91 and 95 Worlds :)

When you consider this was run into a -2.2 headwind this performance would be worth a 21.4 and the de facto 2nd fastest of all-time. Shame about the DQ.

Merlene tested positive 3 times during the 1999 season. When the news of her second positive test came out - she fled the World Championships in Seville Spain. Both her A & B samples test positive for nandrolone - from a meet in Luceren, Switerland on July 5, 1999.

@Smokspiral, the charges were dismissed on technicalities (because the retesting process was not done in the time, given by CAS) she was never cleared, there is a big difference ! She is a drug cheat who got off, and shouldn't have. And when the charges were dismissed, the courts learned that the orginal tests were correct and there should never have been retesting, but it was too late, Thus WADDA was formed.
