Watch the full Keiser Report E408 here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHuGVk...
In this episode of the Keiser Report, Max Keiser and Stacy Herbert discuss the four horsemen of the bondpoclypse riding into town bringing with them the reversal of multi-decades long trends and as pipe swipers steal toilets and as supermarkets hit the limits of cost-cutting, the population confronts the high cost of backsliding trends. In the second half of the show, Max Keiser talks to former energy regulator, Chris Cook, about how we move from dollar diplomacy to gas diplomacy and a world where energy as the modern water hole where you don't have to kill each other and a gas backed currency becomes a new global reserve currency in a post-dollar world.

This seems like a very circular discussion, the prices aren't artificially inflated, they are inflated by bio fuels, farmers like bio fuels because you can make good money out of it, and you don't have the logistic issues of worrying about transport/hygiene/freshness of the crop.

You can have your own cabbage patch, but it's a solution that will work for very few people (who have ample time/land), we would be much better of simply abandoning bio-fuels, and pursuing other energy advances.

So it's disastrous to boycott artificially inflated prices? You can champion the cause of capitalism at me all you want. Capitalism has its limits too -- and those limits are reached when a given group manipulates the market artificially -- and that's precisely what these companies are doing by devoting their crops to something other than feeding its people.

If they think bio-fuels are more important than human sustenance, then we can take our business elsewhere, by growing our own.

Yeah I know your point, and I disagree with the main premise, it just goes against everything we know about capitalism. If your solution to our food problem is everyone should have their own food garden, that's a disastrous policy, the amount of man hours required to grow your garden is much more then what a farmer would take per fruit. So the cost to the economy would be staggering.

It's like suggesting to me that instead of buying paper we should all make our own.

I'm not really disagreeing with you regarding the bio-fuels. You're also right about the evolving pests. The point I was originally making, though, is that, whether it be bio-fuels, GMOs, or what have you, the only true method we have to protect ourselves from these rising prices is to become self-sustaining -- and the only way to really do this is to grow our own foods with all-natural crops.

If we don't do this, well...have you ever seen "A Soilent Green?"

You are blaming GMO/Monsanto for the rise in prices, which is absolutely not what is causing prices to go up. Yes the fact that GMO/Monsanto are producing more pesticide resistant crops is bad because pests are just evolving to be more pesticide resistant as well, this is bad for everyone, the rapid increase in pesticide will have health effects.

But the rise is prices for food is mainly due to growing of bio-fuels, increased competition for land/labour has caused a massive increase in cost.
