Non-Word Edition

I'm sure there are many other Non-Words that we are bombarded with daily. I'm not talking about current slang like "fo' shizzle", but actual utterances that masquerade themselves as words through persistent use. Probably the best example when I was a child would have been "ain't". However, it appears to have weathered the storm and has been accepted despite being "non standard".

Add your favorite "Non-Words" to the comment section.

Two of my dear sweet brothers use supposevely all too often. Next time I'm around them I'm going to slide "irsupposevely" into the conversation.

  • It pisses me off that irregardless is in some dictionaries, which serves to confuse the yokels even more, lol. At least my spell checker get it right :)

  • @cbilljones

Using non standard English is a reason "to go".

    :)

    Thanks for watching

  • Another non-word I hear all the time is CONVERSATE or CONVERSATING. I cringe when i hear people say this.

  • @latinojetsfan I can hear it now...

    XD

    Thanks for watching

  • And this stuff tells the sun, "Not today, maaan...."

  • An "expert" Dr. (Phd, not MD) used irregardless on air the other day (major news show weekend morning), not a single person thought anything of it. Irregardlessness to his his year of disirregradfoollessness of speach while becoming a Dr. I word argue that at least he "got" his "moneys" worth. "I counldn't care less", but Mr Blair could have added some words to double speak, in his novel. As nice as it would be to not be overwhelmed, i suggest he add: regardlessness, disregardless, regardlessly

  • why is it that all the people that use irrigardless are irish or have some type of green or four clover like to em

  • defile

  • @simdude2u I agree, when my family uses that one I can't help myself I have to make fun.
