One of the most educational and rewarding ways to see Battambang and the Cambodian countryside...on the back of a free-wheeling motorbike. http://www.uncorneredmarket.com/
Bring back memories! I visited a small institution called 'UniEd' in Battambang... it was so awesome, on my way there from PoiPhet, the taxi driver (who also ripped me off, lol), couldn't locate my destination... So what I had to do is pose as a statue that I remembered down the street from the school. He basically is in a seated position, and legend has it that he saved the city. I never learned much about his name or anything though, but students loved him =)
Great story. Battambang always holds something interesting. We were invited to a wedding ceremony there after eating bugs with some locals in the town square.
Your experience from Poipet to Battambang is typical. Corruption is the only reason that road hasn't been repaved.
they are some of the friendlies t people in the world, particularly when you consider what they've been through over the last couple of decades. Cambodia is one of our favorite places, too. We wrote about it extensively on our website __uncorneredmarket.com__
Wow, thanks for posting!
