@PBSmithy I think " Old Russia " is the period from a point somewhere in the past that ended in 1917, the Bolshevik Revolution, the assacination of Czar Alexander, and all congruent events of that ocurrance. Don't know what year was my " point in the past ", never will know. Talk about ethnicity, my mom was Ukrainian, my dad Russian, I was made in Austria and born in Brazil, now live in USA. Deep down I consider myself Brazilian first, everything else secondary.

@bendfeldtf This is a literal translation. However a lot is lost in it. The russian poem has perfect rhytm and rhyme, this adds a lot of fluency to the song Turn around unknown passerby Your uncompromising look is familiar to me Maybe that is me only younger not always we recognize ourselves... Nothing on Earth passes without leaving a trail And the youth, which passed, is after all immortal... How young we were (x2) How sincerely we loved How much we believed in ouselves

Someone please translate so that one can more deeply feel this powerful ballad Gracias

When you say "old Russia", do you mean the Russian Empire? or perhaps the Soviet Union?
Do they consider themselves to be an individual ethnicity - seperate both from Russia & Ukraine? or is it that they have been annexed to Ukraine despite wishing to be part of Russia?
Forgive my questions, but I've never heard of this particular issue before, and it's awfully sad to hear of any peoples feeling persecuted, very sad indeed!
I've never heard of this particular
Old Russia: the Russian ethnographic area. Yes, they consider themselves separate from Ukrainians and recently declared their independence (although Kiev is suppressing this info). They wish either to be independent or to become a part of Russia. Carpatho-Russians are Orthodox, not Uniate like the Galicians. They look to Russia for support, and we are 100% behind them. Their leader, Fr Dmitri Sidor, has been brutalised by the Galician thugs. Sad, very sad.

who are the girls in the colourful clothing at 2:00 ? Very beautiful! : )
Great video! I like Russian culture, literature & music and so, i'm going to try and learn the language. My dream is that one day I will be able to read the Russian greats in their original language!

They are girls from Carpatho-Russia, in the extreme west of Old Russia. At present, the Carpatho-Russian people are persecuted by the Galician Uniate nationalists, as a result, they are denied a national existence. It is sad, truly sad. They truly deserve the world's support in the face of "Ukrainian" Uniate thuggery. Spare them a thought and a prayer.
Someday, Carpatho-Russia shall be free... may that day be soon.
