Range time with my 80-series Colt Commander 1911.

Practicing on my grip as well as single-hand shooting.

This is a Col Commander 4.25" 1911. I am a big fan of 1911s and the caliber 45 ACP.

  • ...(continued) conduct a tactical relaod if the purpose of the drill is a lull in the fight. Search and assess, tactical reload (let your buddies know you are) and then a good press check to ensure a loaded chamber and that your weapon is best condition possible before moving to another area.

  • @joeberger I'll keep that in mind if I am in a battle field and have buddies with me. In real life, most likely when I use it, it's gonna be for self defense. Heh. I think I also need a metal plate to my heart and behind my heart, just like mall ninja did. We don't move to another area, we disengage, we, the lowly none-military civilians, do not have the right to engage when the BG [bad guy] flees.

  • This must be one of them new-fangled shell-ejecting, hearing-damage-causing, metal-bullet-firing airsoft guns. Can't fool me...

  • @csmybuttt You got me! And you have to pick up your shells to reuse and re-gas. Pain in the ass on the skirmish field!

  • @newyorkairsoft who are you to predetermine exactly how a street situation would go down? No, you don't go chasing him down but there have been guys killed for neglecting the basics. The cops might be a few minutes away, you think the guy ran away, when actually he runs back in for a shot. Happens in a matter of seconds, but you didn't think it was necessary to tac reload so you aren't ready for it. If you aren't building muscle memory, you're wasting time at the range.

  • You aren't using a firm enough grip. 1911's are awesome because they have a narrow grip, and heavy barrel, causing you to reacquire sight picture very quickly IF your grip is tight enough. Also, you're not resetting the trigger. You're ! jerking it back, and B, taking your finger completely off of it, rather then maintaining contact with the pad of your finger and the trigger as it comes forward. Finally, you need to be executing proper speed reloads every time you run dry. Or (continued..
