The Pacific Electric Railway Historical Society (http://peryhs.org) presents the "Pacific Electric Trolley Waltz" from 1906 accompanied by a visual selection from our online image archive. This exceedingly rare 1906 recording has been enhanced and restored but still retains the aural "patina" of its time. Visit http://peryhs.org to view our growing archive of Pacific Electric and Los Angeles Railway images.
Well, that's no rare 1906 recording. It is my group the Palm Leaf Ragtime Orchestra in the 1980s playing my arrangement of the P.E. Trolley Waltz. The audio has been modified. The original is on the cassette album called Gramophone Days. Galen Wilkes

Great video. I agree with 757K. It would be nice to see some then & now photos. Easier said than done I know. I love the night shots of the stabling yards. It's very sad that the system just disappeared and wasn't modernised...But then trams in London, and all except one town in the U.K, fell to the bus and motor vehicle. Europe had a different outlook and the old tramways survive in modern form.

Brilliant video. It makes you wonder how such a vast and fairly modern public transport system like the Pacific Electric could just disappear. But here we are with only some great photos to remind us of what once was used to build Los Angeles into the city it is today.
