One night, my family and I looked outside and spotted a paper lantern ambling into the black sky. We had noticed a similar phenomenon a few nights before of what looked like so many butterflies burning incandescently as they migrated through the valley of Chang Rai. We stepped outside to join our neighbor and learn a little more about this beautiful and intriguing culture as he sent up a few more prayers into the sky to thank his angel who had protected him on his flight from America that day.
