Yes as we say the masses to not come to theory by reading, well the truth is that the Marxists do not come to it by reading either. It takes a certain political maturity to read thoroughly, particularly something you are told is out of the box and so on and that the "leaders" disagree with.

Funny fact: Stalin himself warned of the dangers of bureaucratic power within his marxist-leninoid system, and used the idea as way to justify the purges. Given the gradual bureaucratic decay after his death, who would have thought he was right!

In any event, it seems to me like the Stalinist system is particular, in that it was set up to deal with a very specific set of problems; Namely, expansion of heavy industry and weapons production, to secure the USSR against international enemies.
