I go over multiple effects in this series. First up, basic metal tears and drop shadows. I am using paper for a hand made stencil and some Createx paint on a blank white license plate.

  • The best way that I have found is to pull the mask before finishing it, then go in to detail the shadows and highlights. I also never use stuck mask and always use loose mask (such as the paper). The natural flutter (make sure you control it) of the paper softens up the edge. If you are using thicker masking, you can tape some washers to the bottom and that will give a soft effect to the mask.

  • looks good! Whats the best way to soften up the edges of a project that you used masking film on? Referring to my airbrush hood! When I pulled the masking tape off it looks like my airbrushing could of been a sticker!
