I had a lab like that but he passed away on october ,17 he did on his 15 b-day rip- luke.

Why duck hunt? Why not just lay in the swamp and blow our annoying little horn...& take pictures of the ducks...theres only like 24 left in the world it seems...I never see ducks anymore...Chessies are so smart maybe can even learn to work the camera!

my 7 month chesapeake is really a smart dog but i am not sure if it good at hunting but when i gotted my dog burno the people said that its mom and dad is a champion at hunting. burno is a akc stands for american kennel club.

@mdag329 I guess I sorta stated that chessies are not as smart as other dogs....WRONG. What I meant is that they are tough dogs.....immune to cold it seems. I have a lab now but gonna look up a chessie in the future. I love the toughness. Funny thing is, a dogs about as smart as its master. Treat them right, spend time with em, and any dog is a superdog!

@Mont556n Maybe your chessies aren't built for smarts but mine sure have been. I've owned several over the years and have two now and they have all been great. They'll never compete in trials with labs because they don't have the flash judges want to see but when it's ten degrees and blowin there's no other!

The funny thing is I use to own one and I had him for 15 years and I read these comments that make me sick! There hair when dry is like a coat his collar may look like its tight but as a chesie if he isn`t happy he will let you know! I miss and love my dog!
