This World AIDS Day - 1 Dec - take action to tackle HIV prejudice and to protect yourself and others from HIV transmission.

There are now 33.4 million people living with HIV, according to 2008 figures released by the World Health Organization. An estimated 2.7 million were newly infected with the virus and 2 million died of AIDS the same year. Tragically, much of the conversation about HIV/AIDS in the United States has stopped. African Americans are disproportionately affected and bear the burden of the disease.
