Tarok (Tarock) is a very old Austrian-Hungarian card game and this version is specific for Slovenia and follows very classical Slovenian Tarock rules.

Please, do not confuse Tarot with Tarock. Not the same. No crystal ball and shizzle.

Like it says on the board game geek, "not to be confused with divinatory tarot" This game is a good introduction to the Austrian style games.

Not to be pedantic, but the words "Tarot" and "Tarocchi" are used by the French and Italians and some English speakers to refer to both the family of card games as well as the esoteric practice. Tarot card reading is often called "divinatory Tarot" to distinguish it from game playing. I think the description should say "Do not confuse divinatory Tarot with the Tarock card game!" That said, this is a great upload!

It's a stupid way to play the game, though. Should've taken the other part of the talon, and got rid of all the clubs. That would bring in two kings (diamonds and hearts), as well as at least some of the suit cards in clubs. The long spades suit could be used as cannon-fodder for the opponent's taroks.

In short, the game was quite winnable by a competent player.
