  • CFL's are complex and made from non-renewable heavy metals and other raw materials that take mass amounts of energy and mining to put together. You need to look at the entire chain of environmental impact required to manufacture, use, dispose of, and purchase CFLs over a period of time versus conventional bulbs. Conventional bulbs are recyclable and made of more conventional materials that are less detrimental to the environment to harvest.
