This video is of a female Dolomedes tenebrosus, brown and grey fishing spider, nursery web spider, or I call them tree spiders, because that is mainly where I find them. On trees or wood near creeks and rivers. I rarely see them on the water or shoreline. She is being fed a cricket by hand, while being held. These usually behave better in captivity than wolf spiders and are more likely to feel o.k. being handled and contained in an arboreal setup. They are still pretty frickin fast when spooked.

  • let me be the first to say that of all the spider videos ive bravely attempted to watch, this is by far the most creepy and disturbing one, but in a "OMG I cant look away coz its kinda cute" way. I say burn it to death after it finishes the cricket, then tell your GF to take a chill pill or something. I think shes bipolar homie! j/k

  • @RayvenNyte09 I think spiders are cute, and could never hurt them, and yeah, I think she's bipolar, and so am I. What about you?

  • awesome but why she not move if no like camera

  • this fool crazy

  • Best friends forever

  • ewww omg id freak out if that was on me lol

  • Oh she's adorable! Cool to see someone else that handfeeds their spiders! :) I like the feeling of closeness you get to them when you hand feed them. It's like entering another world for a moment. It's such a satisfying feeling to watch them happily munch away while sitting on you, isn't it?

She seems pretty calm for a fishing spider! They bolt off pretty fast when you spook them. I'll be getting a Dolomedes okefinokensis soon, and I hope she's as composed as this cutie! :) I can't wait!

  • Looks like a cool spider, almost like you can keep her for a pet, I hope she don't mistakenly bite your hand or accidently bite your hand while grabbing the cricket. I'm still terrafied of spiders, specially the big ones.

  • btw, your girlfriend (I assume) has some serious issues. First she says she doesnt wanna be in your vid but she stays right where she is, and then she throws a fit out of the blue for no reason. Not to mention she doesn't have anything going for her physically... Do yourself a favor and dump that bitch (if you havent done so already).

  • I just caught one of those in my backyard in Gatineau, Québec. Biggest spider I ever caught in my life.
