The Biblical Self-Defense Song

My curiosity for what the Bible actually says about self-defense, rather than simply a "religious right-wing conservative" view inspired this song. Some of the passages I used as references include but are not limited to: 1st Samuel 13:19; Genesis 4; Exodus 22:2,3; Proverbs 25:26; Psalm 144:1; 1st Timothy 5:8; Mathew 5:38,39; Exodus 20:13; Luke 22:36; Mark 12:31

Here at the Naval Academy we have to take "Ethics for the Military Officer," and on one essay we had to explain how we would deal with a sailor or Marine who said they couldn't take a life for religious reasons... I damn near quoted this whole song!

I can appreciate that and am glad to know there are people who you can actually disagree with still without them cursing your entire family name haha. And I may not agree with it 100% either, and congress/ POTUS will always use the military for their own interests, but maybe sometimes under the vail of what they declare an ethical/ moral reason? I'm just stating thats how they define a constitutional war. Doesn't mean they are right by any means haha

I disagree. I think war is only justifiable in self defense but I respect your opinion and I love the military as well. I just don't like those who decide how it is used.

Fair enough. But according to the Just War Theory (Jus ad bellum) in which the government uses to determine if they have the ability to wage war, there are 7 prerequisites that must be met. The 1st of those is a "Just Cause." There are 3 types: Defense (either defense from aggression or defense against an imminent threat), Recovery (of land/property) and Punishment (be it retribution, reform, or deterrence). Just because a war isn't in self-defense doesn't mean it isn't justified or ethical.
