@vijayraol your wrong barbary lions are not extinc there's some of them at the other zoo's
-
@vijayraol Dave salmoni is the guy who is behind the idea of introducing 2 tiger cubs to the wild....the main concerns was the actual survival of the cats without theyre mother, i mean the mother will protect and teach the right tactics to hunt like killing by the "neck bite or the kiss of death"...the actual project did go well, they learned how to hunt in a late stage...theyre doing well :)
-
@elelisrael if your talkin about size....u would consider the extinct American lion..the biggest lions inn the world
-
@vijayraol well a human couldn't reproduce enough of the mother's survival training but this is where the cat that has been captively released comes in, they would raise the cub's and when the time comes tranquilisers could be used and the resulting cat's released, rubber shotgun rounds could be used to create a negative association with man, although this is cruel, instilling a fear would protect them from being killed for hunting man. lions can betrained. we messed up so we must put it right.

@DINDRAGON If the older humans wouldn't shoot a metal pellet into the starving lion's heart or brain, they would be.
-
@vgman94 Why should they? Kids are a stable food source for lions!
not true. its not the only sub species. theres also the barbary lion. those are the biggest lions

Not true. Barbary lions have been extinct for many years. Check your facts.

@vijayraol barbary lions are extinct only in the wild, they are still bredin captivity and soon hopefully will be released into the wild

@lforsdyke : Unfortunately, there has been no successful re-introduction of large cats, bred in captivity, out into the wild. Moreover, although some strains of Barbary lions may exist in captivity, most captive lions are so inbred and mixed, it would be highly improbable to find truly pure Barbary lions, so many years after their extinction in the wild.

@vijayraol I saw a documentary a while ago, a man trained tigers to hunt in the wild, he had bought a huge plot of land in Africa and ended up releasing the tigers into the area (which was fenced off), i see no reason why this couldn't be done with lions and the offspring released (obviously being reared by man would increase the chances of attack's on humans, which would lead to the cats being hunted and killed because they got hungry and wanted to survive! you do get some evil bastards about!

@lforsdyke : Although there have been attempts, there has not been a successful undertaking of this type. It is near impossible to mimic the survival training that cubs learn from their parents in the wild. The trial with a female Tigress, Tara, had horrendous results, which cost multiple human and tiger lives, and was a failed experiment.
