Kirton Lindsey & Kirton Lime Sidings, North Lincolnshire.
Saturday 5th March 2011.
Loco's & DMU featured: 66174, 66182, 66710 & 153358.
A video from 40 minutes spent at Kirton Lindsey before going to work, this location is a foot crossing located just north of Kirton Lindsey station, between the station & Kirton Lindsey tunnel. First seen is 66710, emerging from the tunnel, heading east light engine as 0C16 Immingham Reception Sidings to Doncaster Down Decoy yard. Next is 66182 on 4R15 Drax to Immingham HIT empty coal hoppers, diverted off it's booked path via Lincoln. Next is the Saturdays only 12:00 Sheffield to Cleethorpes via Gainsborough passenger service (2H05), formed of 153358, seen departing Kirton Lindsey station. Lastly, from Kirton Lime Sidings, 66174 passes on 6D02 Redcar to Santon (Scunthorpe) loaded iron ore of over 2000 tons, passing the top of the 1 in 132 gradient from Northorpe. These iron ore trains normally only run between Immingham & Santon, so seeing them west of Scunthorpe (or any other line away from the Wrawby - Scunthorpe main line) is very rare.

@mirleestraction The line speed at both Kirton Lindsey & Kirton Lime Sidings is 60mph. At Kirton Lime Sidings, it drops to 40mph on the double track section to Brigg, though, so most trains are slowing down from 60mph to 40mph at KLS heading towards Brigg.
