the TRUTH is that 90% of all indians accepted the buyouts and left peacefully.
PBS has an excellent series on jackson and lots of free video.
There was a war in the northern territory but that was the EXCEPTION rather than the rule.
the TRUTH is that white farmers were being SLAUGHTERED by the peaceful indans and they refused to go WEST.
the SHAME is not the MOVEMENT of indians but the refusal to HONOR the conracts we made with them.

From what I understand, the Seminole tribe did not exist before the Europeans came to America. They were actually a conglomeration of the remains of a few southwest tribes, fugitive black slaves, and white settlers who chose to live the Native American ways, who were slowly but surely pushed further and further into the Florida Everglades.

The Seminoles were a broken and mixed people by the time the 13 colonies were expanding, but this only happened after the Spaniards invaded (Florida was Spanish territory). Prior to that, they were a complete and unique tribe.
