I made a weekend visit to Liverpool in July 08, arriving in Lime Street Station from London. First I headed for the Tourist Information Centre not far from the Station. Available there were many valuable resouces such as 'How to get to The Beatles Attractions in Merseyside'. The rest of the weekend was spent following this free map guide around central Liverpool and suburbs on foot and by local train and bus.

Day one afternoon was spent walking around Central Liverpool Mathew Street Cavern, Beatles Shops, Hard Days Night Hotel, and Albert Dock The Beatles Story, and Ferry on The Mersey.

Day two was spent first taking train and bus to Liverpool John Lennon Airport, then West Allerton Train Station where we set off on foot with map in hand. After a 10-15 minute walk we arrived at Paul's family home 20 Forthlin Road.

A further 20 minute walk and we arrived at John's family home Mendips, 251 Menlove Avenue. Just around the corner is Strawberry Fields and only a 10 minute walk further is Woolton Village with St Peters Church where John met Paul in 1957.

Further away on a bus ride was Penny Lane and in another suburb West Derby Village is the Casbah Club where it all began.

It is hard to describe the feeling of excitement in visiting these places of so much interest to me for more than 30years.

I look forward to returning to Liverpool again to walk in the suburbs and central city once more where John, Paul Ringo, George, Pete, Stu etc lived and played.

  • great video!!!! thank u for sharing!!! :)

  • MY pleasure and thanks for commenting.

  • Ah, Beatles Day now goes world wide this year that originally took place on July 10, 2008 in Liverpool--the year you went to England. Last year, Beatles Day also took place in other cities in the UK, China, Russia, and New Zealand. Perhaps, it will happen again in New Zealand in 2010? That would be awesome!

Wishing you many fond Beatles memories. Thank you for sharing your memories of your travels to England.

  • Thanks for that my good friend! They are wonderful memories I won't forget. Looking forward to Beatles Day 2010.

  • Liverpool should be the best city in the world! :)

  • It has hardship as well, but so do many great cities in the world.

  • This made me very nostalgic! I grew up in the Woolton area of Liverpool and remember the Quarrymen and early Beatles days very well. So thank you for posting this and I'm glad you enjoyed your visit to Liverpool.

  • I can't believe that they replaced the Strawberry Fields gates....that makes me so angry! And I know John wouldn't have wanted it.

  • @BitterSweetAle Кайфую от Битлз.

  • @yerblues1968 Good ol Ringo! May he live forever. Greatly appreciate the information and your enthusiasm mate.

  • @notnilccm Well, congratulations to you for having your birthday on a special Beatles Day worldwide celebration. So, you have a double celebration. Also, July 7th is Ringo Starr's birthday. This year he is touring Europe with his All Starr Band. He will celebrate his birthday in Hamburg, where The Beatles became very popular before worldwide success.

  • @yerblues1968 Awesome. Thank you so much. Ive always been a huge fan but never heard that before. July 10th is my birthday!

  • @notnilccm The people of Liverpool decided that 10th July will be forever known as BEATLES DAY and that date was chosen as it is the anniversary of the Beatles triumphant return to Liverpool from the United States and the premiere of the film 'Hard Day's Night' in 1964.

  • @yerblues1968 Is there a significance to July 10th?
