No, I have a problem with that. you're right to say that camp has long been associated with visibility politics, but gay liberation should amount to only two things: freedom to have sex, and freedom to express yourself without feeling threatend. Some guys are just feminine, some girls masculine. You need to accept that. They aren't "70s throwbacks".

  • ringmaster=anus

    i've found my soul mate

  • Ringmaster....that's a new one for me. LOL

  • Rob Brydon is so fucking funny!

    love that guy <333

  • In the 70's homosexuals were"feminine" or "visible" for "political reason": they had to show to the world they got the right to exist. As well for meeting other homosexuals be visible was important. So they become "gays".

Now we got rights (in a lot of country), so I can be myself: a man.

Butch up yourself: this is political;str8 don't like that: they want you look a fag so they can say: I'm not like that! Masculine gays and feminine lesbians give heteros something to think about.

  • @3FromTheOutside I understand completely where you're coming from, but when describing anyone, sexuality and its various attributes come into play, words like 'masculine' or 'camp', both irretrievably associated with two different sexualities. So I think the term 'straight acting' is less desirable, but more understood by more ignorant outsiders to the gay sexuality.

  • I absolutely hate that misleading expression "straight acting". A masculine gay man is just as legit as any "masculine" straight man. Us masculine gay men need NOT attribute masculinity to heterosexual males as if they have some sort of inherent right to it and we somehow do not.

  • @jd7x7jd Don't know about minger… there's something gorgeous about laddish guys with killer smiles imho.

In some pictures he's stunning, but mostly he's a guy-next-door-who-turned-out-gay. Isn't that every man's dream?

I don't think he has it in him to be queen-ish either. But you're right, it's great that he's so comfortable being himself: gay, but masculine. Most of us (who I've met) actually are!
