Climate change threatening the Southern Ocean

CSIRO scientists are observing changes in ocean temperatures, ocean chemistry and global sea levels.

In this vodcast, we meet four marine scientists from CSIRO's Wealth from Oceans Flagship who are conducting research for the Australian Climate Change Science Program on the how increased carbon dioxide in the air affects our oceans.

The scientists explain the evidence for ocean warming and acidification, the increase in strengths of major warm-water currents, changes in the productivity of marine ecosystems, and shifts in the distribution and abundance of species.

@Viracocha711 Utter nonsense. You mean if it were not for the big yellow thing in the sky, the earth would be frozen. Co2 is a mere trace gas produced as a result of warming caused by our Sun. Get out of silly computer models and into reality. The so called greenhouse theory is obselete as abrupt and deep cooling ( sun induced ) has commenced.

It does not take much CO2 to trap heat to keep the Earth at a habitable temperature. This is why it is so important that we start reducing our CO2 output now&work to a point that we stop all CO2 output. You can continue playing dumb if you want but you can't hide forever. @hectorsk123 Right, but Physicist & Climate Scientist study Geo-sciences not Sociology...Very few have the skills to effectively approach the public. However, there are some scientist like Dr. James Hansen who has poor communication skills yet due to the threat has expressed in detail what needs to be done & they are branded "Alarmist". In reality scientist do the science then it is up to US to take the info & make the Value Judgement on what we should do!
