This aria comes from the opera Les Contes d'Hoffman by Offenbach and is sung by the character Hoffman's first love in the opera, Olympia. Olympia happens to be a mechanical doll, but he does not realize this and falls in love with her anyhow. She then sings one of the opera's most well known arias, known as the "Doll Aria", in which she routinely runs out of "power" and needs to be wound up again.
