  • I have a question. Without trying to be divisive, I sometimes get the impression from various sources that even through current times, there still is an element of resentment within Great Britain about getting dragged into a second World War by Germany and the terrible consequences that followed. Of course all the western democracies made serious lapses of judgment before 1933 including here in the US. I just perceive a lingering anger at Germany by some Brits.....am I incorrect?

  • Fuck anyone that talks down to our service in the second world war, our troops fighted with great tenacity against the Axis powers. god bless em all.

  • @IkKomUitNoordIerland I know, it was far more the fault of the commanders.

  • @TheLiberalKnight That was not their choice however, the commander surrendered the next thing you know these soldiers many of which where Australian where in concentration camps, I knew someone who fought in Asia, and he was scared from what he had seen.

  • @alex97535 Shut up and listen to what I'm actually saying. Japan was never going to invade Britain, were they? Our armed forced performed awfully against the Japanese. Their role was to defend the east of the empire, not to defend Britain. And 100,000 surrendered to 30,000 Japs. Not good.

Overall, our forces in WW2 were not as strong as in WW1. That doesn't mean I don't respect them. Perhaps you may consider it a cold hearted analysis, but oh well.

  • Are you serious? Those men are the very reason youre not speaking German. You have absaloutly no idea the horrors those men encountered. You, most likely would have run away to youre mum. So think twice before saying the soldiers of World war 2 dont deserve respect.

  • @LogicalStatements3 I'm not saying the soldiers don't deserve respect, most of them fought bravely, but at Singapore our soldiers didn't even bother to fight, 100,000 of them surrendered without a fight, which does not, in my books, deserve respect.

  • @TheLiberalKnight You could have kept that to yourself to be honest instead of disrespecting peoples lives for it was not a game , people died you know ... how can you be so heartless? It was not a game why could you not keep that cold hearted thought to yourself?

  • People may be angry at me for saying this, but our military performed absoloutely abysmally in WW2 compared to most of our wars. I think WW2 is a pretty shameful part of our history. Since we were completely broke, we lacked the military might we had in WW1. The Asian theater was perticularly embarrassing.

  • @maddass2006 Thank you sir. Great to know that those of us who serve this tiny nation, still have what it takes to be able to call ourselves and Great Britain, the best, and uncategorically so. Don't get me wrong, I love those yanks, and when serving along side them in Iraq and Aghanistan etc I've got on with them superbly...but NOTHING will turn my opinion that OUR country is the premier, the best, the greatest. Britain makes me proud...BRILLIANT BRITAIN.
