  • If I send you the ceilings from both bathrooms and kitchen, would you please fix them?

    Just kidding, of course.

My fluorescents in all those rooms have those flat plastic liftouts - and they break easily - so I'm afraid to do change the bulbs in the kitchen.

In 2003, the painter never replaced the bathroom plastics -- and since then I just keep looking at the bald bulbs. LOL Good that bald never bothered me. ;-)

Will those nice covers you show work on my grids? I think I know the answer

  • Hi Marny. Yeah . . . a little challenging to be sending those bathroom and kitchen ceilings back and forth! Regarding the light covers, however, there are some pretty good solutions available for you. Most home improvement centers will have replacement inserts for fluorescent fixtures (usually made by Plaskokite). Or feel free to contact our customer service folks at Ceilume and we will be glad to help you out!

  • Hi would you ship to the UK ? what other fancy translucent tiles do you offer

  • @H4rryy Great question! We don't ship directly to the UK at this time, but if you work with a freight forwarder here in the states we can certainly work with that. To see a full selection of our translucent tiles, just go to the Ceilume website, and be sure to check out the Customer Photo Gallery, select the "Search Photos" feature, then check the "Translucent" box under color. Thanks!

  • i manage a 40-unit apt building. all units have fluorescent lights (six) in the kitchen. trying to cut the standard covers is a nightmare? are there new materials now that can be easier to cut? instead of the, i guess, plastic covers that shatter very easily when i try to cut them.

  • There ARE some good, and easier options for you. Visit the Ceilume website and check out the 2X4 Polyline style. Cuts easily, looks good, won't shatter. Might be just what you're after!

  • Very nice, what do you suggest on insulation though? I want the look and the light but also want to insulate ??

  • @dtone314 They're not painted; they're molded in decorative patterns. The pattern varieties are nearly endless -- each creates a different mood or feel in a room. Ceiling tiles are available in the same patterns as the translucent tiles (through which light shines), so the entire ceiling has a slick, unified "designer" feel to it. Much better than the typical old versions where the designs of the light panels were unrelated to the ceiling panels.

  • Hey, interesting idea, if you have a restaurant, bar or club you could put LED fixtures above the panels so the ceiling lights up different colors! And with the right programming you could create amazing light shows! Now there's a whole new market for ya! :)

  • A 10 X 12 room would require 30 24" X 24" tiles. That would come to about $240 (shipping is free). You would need to already have your suspended ceiling grid installed, and you can use regular fluorescent light fixtures above the grid to provide the back-light. Makes a great looking ceiling when complete!
