This is actually a really decent plot you've got going here. The problem is that the prequels, at their core, are not rescuable. There is no tweak or series of tweaks that you can make in order to make these anything but an experiment in how low the American moviegoer's acceptance of what a movie is could be.

I actually really like the Star Wars prequels... people like me are hard to come by, I guess :/ I thought the movies were great. It was brilliant how Palpetine (however you spell it) turned the Republic into his own Galactic Empire. That incredible plan in itself impressed me, even though it was so incredibly tragic.
