  • The review for Hellblazer deserved another watch and it (quite honestly) is our best review of a weekly by far! It probably helped that the book was a GREAT read. Reading 'mainstream/Bendis' books only proves that it's much better and MORE WORTHWHILE to look at the REAL stuff! (,.. true believers :D)

  • Since we started the Weeklies, I know more than ever that there are a plethora of comics out there that I would never have been exposed to without the show. Jonah Hex & Hellblazer are IN; Nemesis & Captain America are OUT, I'm sad to say.

I followed Millar and Brubaker through many mediocre years, hoping they would return to former glory, but alas, I have to move on to better things. Maybe one day I'll return, but for now, I'm loyal to Peter Milligan, Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti.

  • I love it!!! Conversational and informative and the opinions about Brave and the Bold I generally agree with... Kurt is right in some ways, the art isn't 80's... it's just bad. :P

I'm going to have read that issue of Hellblazer now!!!

  • @mittenexpress Yeah, the 80s was a great period for comics art! (Frank Miller, Alan Davis, Michael Golden, Brian Bolland, Jim Aparo etc.)

  • @DamianRavenblood I got out a bit later. I was actually a huge fan of Post-Crisis Superman, but I don't think it holds up today. Giffen's JL is still great!

The Image boom/crash and the Lobdell X-men destroyed superheroes for me, and I turned to Concrete, Madman, Strangers in Paradise, later American Splendor. What brought me back in was (coincidence?) Grant Morrison's JLA.

Mid-90s marvel/DC is some of the lowest form of entertainment on the earth.

  • @ChelleSegal Cool, I hope you liked the event.

  • @coydog0 Cool, thanks. I will try to find them.

  • Great reviews, guys and girl! I'm gonna have to start reading Hellblazer.

  • thanks TaishoReno, I will check out War of Kings!

  • @TaishoReno I'm a huge fan of the Silver Age Legion stories that are reprinted in the DC Archives volumes. Mostly written by Ed Hamilton, Jerry Seigel and a 13-year-old Jim Shooter. Those stories are magical. However, if you don't like Silver Age stuff, I recommend that Paul Levitz run from the 80s. If you want to narrow that down, start with the Baxter-paper series that (re)started at #1 in 1984 that had GREAT art by Keith Giffen, Steve Lightle and Greg LaRocque.
