A BHP Billiton empty ore train with three pairs of locomotives spaced at 112 car intervals is seen passing Cowra Loop in the Pilbara. This is a remake of a clip I first posted in 2009. A good quality editing suite has allowed me to improve it considerably over the original post which has been switched off. The fact that the old clip is 'buried' deep back in the vault probably means it is also getting overlooked. These monsters should not be overlooked.

  • Will you be re-editing all your Pilbara iron-ore train videos with the new software? As far as I can tell these are the only good videos of these trains on YouTube; the trains are world famous, and world-famously inaccessible to most of us - and your hit rate rather bears that out. Everyone wants to see them and only you have done the work.

  • @zelo1954 I shot a lot ( most ) with a standard definition camera. I had only intended to do the few HD clips.......however, I will be going back there with two HD cameras to do the job properly and hopefully soon..

  • so does that mean they need at least 6 crew on the whole train or is it all controlled from the front?

  • @ThomastheE2engine One driver on the front with computer screens to control the rear consists.

  • Das nenne ich mal ein schönen langen Zug .

    Danke für das Video

  • Good god that must take a hell of a long time to get moving.

  • And I thought that "singing rails" was just a myth. Guess not cause Aussie rails sing a pretty tune!! Thanks
