Mordicus was a Finnish Death Metal band, founded in 1989 in Joensuu. The band was heavily influenced by Carcass, along many other Finnish bands, and later also the influence of more melodic Swedish Death Metal can be seen ( Dismember etc.). The band's first two demos "Abominations of the Earth" and "Grown Under Shade of Sorrow" were released in 1991. 1992 they recorded a promo tape, which resulted to record deal with Skin Drill Records, through which they released their first EP "Three- Way Dissection" in the same year. Later in 1992, the band recorded the demo "Wrathorn". The band finally recorded their first full-length "Dances from Left" and it was released through Thrash Records in 1993.

The band was active throughout the late 1990s, releasing demos in 1995, 1997, and 1998, and a video EP called Particular Truths in 1997. In August 1999, they recorded another three song tape, which led to a record deal with Yperano Records. Mordicus completed a 15 song album in 2000, but it remains unreleased, as Yperano wants to license it to a bigger label.

The Spanish Tempel of Darkness Records re-issued "Dances from Left" in 2008. This dream-come-true package also features 6 bonus songs ( their "Three-Way Dissection" EP and some songs from their demos. )

This song is the closing track of their "Three-Way Dissection" EP of 1992.

Lyrics :

organic suppuration
lethargic brainstate
dismented giblets
suspect the wake

more than you endure
torn that silence
blessed to cure
coarsing malevolence

preserved
fomenting
preserved
fomenting

heat of fomentinq
preserved sickness
expireless tormenting
in the lead pressed

another coming
could survive
after sorrow
back to life

  • @KissMeImPunk And no thrash isn't completely irrelevant to death metal, but this video really isn't about the evolution of extreme metal (all subgenres and how they're all related), it's a video of Mordicus' music. So if someone liked this and asked for recommendations, citing Dark Angel or Sodom would be incorrect, as you're not giving the person the right list of bands that they asked for. They would probably have wanted you to cite bands that sound similar to Mordicus.

  • @KissMeImPunk Only a couple of years? I've been listening to metal for 20+, who's opinion on certain matters means more? The term "extreme metal" is an all-encompassing, generic term that includes Death, Black, Thrash, Doom. When you're speaking in general about all of the above, as we were, you can just call it all Extreme. If you're singling one out, you can specify which subgenre.

  • @SplatteredRemnants Cool assumption bro, I've been listening to this shit for a couple years now. Calling it "extreme" metal jsut kinda makes it seem childish. While it is extremely heavy, it would be silly to call it extreme metal since it already has a label to it. Plus, thrash is not irrelevent to death metal, seeing as it DID help push the movement pretty much all the way.

  • @KissMeImPunk Death/black/speed/thrash has always been known as "extreme metal." It's obvious you just started listening to metal two weeks ago.

Thrash discussion on a 90s death metal video is completely irrelevant, off-topic, and stupid. I'd much rather discuss bands that are relevant to this scene.

  • @SplatteredRemnants No you fucking retard, the "extreme" metal for the more..mainstream folk.

  • @KissMeImPunk Another collective of bands like who? Bon Jovi? Anything Carcass-esque is extreme and wonderous.

  • @SplatteredRemnants Are you sure you wanna use "extreme" metal? It might be used for another collective of bands.

  • @KissMeImPunk I know the evolution of extreme metal, I've probably been listening longer than you (no offense). That still leaves me wondering what any of that has to do with this specific video though. Fucking worship this or rot... !

  • @SplatteredRemnants Because death metal evolved from. Bands wanted to explore the heights of brutality and wanted to sound heavier and darker. It went from thrash, to brutal thrash, to death/thrash and/or proto-death, to death metal in the style of Floridian and Sweden.

  • @KissMeImPunk Why are we talking about thrash in an old school 90s DM / Mordicus video?
