For the second year Running, I paid a visit to the Foxfield Railway's Summer Steam Gala, a magnet for rail enthusiasts, industrialist or not. This year was, if anything, even better than last year, and as I stayed longer, I was able to exploit this fully. The Line had, eventually, 8 locomotives in steam over the weekend, these were:
|RSH/Mech Navvies Ltd Austerity 0-6-0ST w/no 7169 no 71515 (Visiting from the Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway)
|Bagnall 0-4-0ST w/no 2842 no 2 (Recently returned from Overhaul)
|Hunslet Austerity 0-6-0ST w/no 3694 'Whiston' (Recently returned from Overhaul)
|Hunslet Austerity 0-6-0ST w/no 3839 'Wimblebury'
|Bagnall 0-6-0ST w/no 3059 'Florence No.2'
|RSH 0-6-0T w/no 7684 'Meaford No.2'
|Haydock Foundry 0-6-0WT no C 'Bellerophon'
|Dubs and Co Crane Tank w/no 4101 'Dubsy' (Overhaul not quite completed, was in light steam at Caverswall Road on Saturday evening)
There was some gap in my filming as I experienced problems with both my tripod and the horrendous weather, but after it cleared up I was able to get some shots of Industrials mounting the charge on the Infamous Foxfield Bank, especially the 18 wagon freight featuring the 3 Austerities at the end of the day. The Plan I did was:
|1045 Caverswall Road -- Dilhorne Park (Bagnall No.2 and Bellerophon)
|1151 Dilhorne Park -- Caverswall Road (Meaford No.2)
|1300 Caverswall Road -- Dilhorne Park (Whiston and Wimblebury)
|1451 Dilhorne Park -- Caverswall Road (Whiston and Wimblebury)
|1515 Caverswall Road -- Dilhorne Park (Florence No.2)
|1740 Dilhorne Park -- Caverswall Road (Florence No.2)
This part, the second of three, features all locomotives running on the Saturday. The two Austerities are seen shunting at Foxfield Colliery, Meaford No.2 is seen bringing a freight down from Dilhorne Park and then leaving with a passenger, Florence No.2 Takes a freight down the bank, which is taken back up by Bellerophon and Bagnall No.2, and the RSH built Austerity arrives on a passenger train which the Saddle and Well Tank duo run on to
I would like to thank the Foxfield Railway for putting on an excellent gala event, the Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway for agreeing to the loan of their RSH built Austerity, the teams responsible for restoring Bagnall No.2, Whiston and Dubsy back to steam, and you for taking your time to watch this video
