Well people might spend a few hours on it but its pretty much how it goes with designers, you have to spend days for a good idea and a few minutes (if you know your tools well) to do the actual job. So it is understandable to charge thousands of dollars if the design is worth thousands of dollars. If people were being payed for the amount of time they spend doing the actual work, government workers would be millionaires while professional sport players would be poor as fuck.

Oh god everytime I watch this I laugh my arse out. I'm not a graphic designer but worked for a small company for a few years billing clients. Every single one would come in with a black and white print out of the logo they had 'designed' in MS Word and say "can't you just photocopy it or something? It shouldn't take you long" I began to itemize this as 'Design Special T' ("T" for tutorial).

Oh this is so true. I tell them I don't work for free. You have to give me a deposit or I don't start the work. If they don't like it I keep 1/2 of the deposit.

but that logo can give a company millions. shouldn't you get a cut for making their identity what it is? it wouldn't go as far with a crap logo.
