I am such a huge fan of Barbossa. Rush makes you like him despite him being such a back stabbing character.

Barbossa was inspired by The real Hayreddin Barbarossa. An Ottoman Admiral that won huge amouts of battle's and made the Meditterean see and Ottoman lake.
He was called Barbarossa because he had red facial hair.

@JohnnyMac2237 I agree! What made the first movie was the interaction of Barbossa and Sparrow. The second movie was lacking that and the third...well it brought some of it back.

@NasiH90 Well Barbossa is a 'healthy' pirate - an Apple a day does keep the doctor away! :D And he does like to eat apples - perhaps its why he's pretty dexterious in sword combat haha!
