Actually, it depends on your local and state laws. There are plenty of states that do not require you to get consent or alert the subjects that you are recording.

to use your recordings of peoples voices without their consent is illegal, Recording music off of the internet is unethical as well. I don't agree with any type of recording of others unless they know about it. recording is legal but using the recording in gestures or other mediums is not . If you cant think of your own gestures or sounds then dont create them simple as that

LineIn + SoundFlower + Whatever Sound Recording software you like. You can even do a "physical" audio loopback instead of using those two apps... Google Image "audio loopback" and see the first picture if you don't know what it is.
