This is a sped up video of me building a computer from scratch. It is time lapsed so that a couple hours of build time plays back in 2 minutes.

  • why is it no-one uses grounding cables?

  • IMHO, frequently discharging myself to large metal objects lowers the risk enough. Sure, if I had some sort of grounding apparatus, I'd use it, but I don't have one; I have yet to damage a board in this way (to my knowledge)

  • @nomoremuffans when you installing an Os. you but a windows or ubuntu installation disc in the cd drive.

    then boot it.

  • Is it enough to discharge to metal UNgrounded objects (like unplugged pc case) or is it better to earth ground (touch earthed metal)?

Is it dangerous for the components to work on them earth grounded while they're in an ungrounded case ?

  • OK i see.

  • @trentdk I see you like to polish your CPU heat sink ;) I'm lazy to do that. :D

  • set up the bios.

  • LOL! That was the best! :D

  • well for a athlon 64, you don't need a lot of power. remember this was in 2007.

  • It's actually pretty easy to do, just imagine that you're putting a fragile puzzle together. Taking one apart however, that's a whole nother story.
