This was a video I shot for the band "Organech" while recording their full-length album.
Disclaimer. Some aspects of this video may be offensive some people. I will state that this is THEIR project and they were pleased by the results as a representation of the band. This is also the first professionally commissioned music video I shot. It actually got me a job offer in Florida (without even applying for it) later the same year which I had to decline.
A bit about the shooting of the video:
It was shot probably in the summer of 2000 or 2001 on my Canon GL1. Locations include the actual recording session at my home studio of the time, two small live performances and band members' houses. It was shot for letter boxed widescreen which would have cropped the image to 360 lines for You Tube. Therefore, I doubled the resolution for uploading so that the higher quality streaming options would be allowed. The camera was almost always handheld.
Audio: Recorded on a Teac 80-8 (1/2" 8-track) using Quantegy 456. It was mixed either on a Mackie MS-1202 or a Carvin SM162. I honestly don't remember much about the equipment I used. I didn't take notes because the whole album was done in two 4-hour sessions and didn't have time. It would have been mixed to Cool Edit Pro 1.2 through an Echo Mia at 88.2KHz 24-bit.
Final notes: Old TVs are tougher than they look. The one thrown from the roof had to be thrown two or three times before it broke. Never be in a hurry to record vocal tracks, you'll regret it later. Finally, always make muliple redundant copies of your work! This upload was made possible because the final cut exists on three different media... CD-ROM AVI file which used a now-unsupported CODEC, MiniDV tape and VHS tape.
