Some of the best boots available for the high country hunter and heavy duty backpacker. These boots are all mid to low in height, all between 3.5-4 lbs a pair, all feature full length nylon midsole for stiffness and a rubber rand with full grain nubuck leather uppers.
This overview is not intended to be comprehensive, and I've only spent a lot of time in the Meindls, but hopefully it will help you decide between a few of these boots if you've been wondering which ones to try.

  • This review was about 100 times better than zappos or anything else I could find online. Awesome job with an incredible focus on the details!

  • Nice review, mate! But you need help of a doctor, to look at your throat, cause of to much "kkhhmmm". Cheers!

  • hands down the hanwag is the best i have a pair i have them 4years and there just starting to kinda give in now, at first the leater is hard but after a short time it will go very soft, although i never had any problems with them when they do give in, i wont be bying a new pair, i intend to invest in a pair of lowa mountain gtx boots have heard good reviews about them.

  • scarpa kailash are a great choice....extremely comfortable without any breakin time whatsoever. wear 'em with oregon aero shockblocker insoles and smartwool socks and you have a superb setup for hiking/hunting/whatever

  • how much money do you have!! :o

  • I like Superfeet Greens and SOLE Ultra. Superfeet Greens are pretty standard volume, good support and particularly good if there is chance of inside getting wet. SOLE Ultra is much higher volume which can solve issues of boots being slightly larger than expected when combined with whichever sock combo. They offer a great support with cushioning. The downside is that if they get wet, they will take longer to dry than Superfeet.

  • What insoles do you use?

  • Thanks for posting this video. It was very helpful.

  • Nice independant review, very good, Maybe you can come up with an endurance follow-up review in a while.
