My brother in law has a 2005 Honda Civic. Recently he was driving me around and I noticed typical bad wheel bearing noise (roaring) on the front driver-side. It was pretty loud, but he had gotten used to it and was unaware of the problem. He took it to a mechanic who replaced the bearing. Upon leaving the mechanic, he noticed a scraping noise (snowplow on pavement). He took it back and the mechanic said a cover (he thinks the mechanic said "tin plate") was loose. The mechanic fixed it and the noise was gone. He then drove several hours on the interstate. Once he was off the interstate (slowing down) he noticed a new noise. The ticking noise seems to correspond to wheel speed, doesn't change with steering, and turns into more of a popping noise when braking. Any idea what it could be?
