  • Guy wires are a great way to pull a branch down and/or over to a new location without using super heavy gauge wire on the whole branch. It was especially helpful on this hinoki as everything was growing upward. I wired the start of each branch generally with the first wrap under the base of the branch and put the next wrap over the top at the location I wanted to bend the branch downward. The guy wires help pull the whole branch down with out risking crack or snap at the base of each branch

  • nice video, it totally made me want to get a hinoki. not sure if I've ever seen that variety over here though. maybe you guys could do a video on your guy wire technique. mine never turn out to be too effective, and most people I know don't often use them either.

  • what song is around 4:00?

  • @bjorvalabonsai : thanks bjorn... i'll be emailing you through your website. do make more videos... i have never been so addicted to bonsai as i am now. as a matter of fact i have collected such varieties of trees already for the past 3 months. and i just recently got my first hinoki cypress because i was so inspired and fell in love with the hinoki you featured in one of your videos. just recettly i have styled it and it was a bit of a challenge. now i can't wait to get my second hinoki. hehehe
