Guy wires are a great way to pull a branch down and/or over to a new location without using super heavy gauge wire on the whole branch. It was especially helpful on this hinoki as everything was growing upward. I wired the start of each branch generally with the first wrap under the base of the branch and put the next wrap over the top at the location I wanted to bend the branch downward. The guy wires help pull the whole branch down with out risking crack or snap at the base of each branch

nice video, it totally made me want to get a hinoki. not sure if I've ever seen that variety over here though. maybe you guys could do a video on your guy wire technique. mine never turn out to be too effective, and most people I know don't often use them either.

@bjorvalabonsai : thanks bjorn... i'll be emailing you through your website. do make more videos... i have never been so addicted to bonsai as i am now. as a matter of fact i have collected such varieties of trees already for the past 3 months. and i just recently got my first hinoki cypress because i was so inspired and fell in love with the hinoki you featured in one of your videos. just recettly i have styled it and it was a bit of a challenge. now i can't wait to get my second hinoki. hehehe
