Bill O'Reilly Responds To Rush Limbaugh Exodus From Rams Group

Bill O'Reilly responded to the firestorm surrounding Rush Limbaugh in the wake of his attempt to become a part owner of the St. Louis Rams, including what he deems "overdone" criticism on NBC News' part. Some sources claim Limbaugh made racist comments, but such statements have not been confirmed.

"So what if a radio guy wants to invest in a football team?" O'Reilly asked. "he should not be denied an opportunity. This is 1984-type stuff, ladies and gentlemen. Thought police posture."

Hours before the segment would air, Limbaugh would be cut from a group led by Dave Checketts interested in bidding for the St. Louis Rams.

"I don't think that's fair," he says. "There's something unsettling about this whole thing, as punishing speech, even when provocative, is not what America's all about."

Later, legal expert Jonna Spilbor predicts Limbaugh will sue sources for libel, including Rick Sanchez, whom O'Reilly dubbed "a guy in the afternoon - same guy who smeared me."

Meanwhile, Jennifer Smetters does not wish for Limbaugh to forego litigation. She also repeatedly refers to Ms. Spilbor as "Donna."
