Eddie Albert sings "Jenny Kissed Me" (from the 1956 album "Eddie Albert and Margo," aka "September Song"); with pictures from his 50-year stage & screen career. (15 March 09: Now with annotations!)
"Jenny Kissed Me" was the "B" side (or, at least, the other side) of the 1956 single "Little Child," Eddie's duet with Sondra Lee. "Little Child" may be the song that charted, but I think I prefer "Jenny."
What's somewhat surprising is that the original poem the song's lyric is based on dates from the 1830s!

Does anyone but me remember Eddie Albert singing his wonderful version of Simon and Garfunkel's "Homeward Bound"?

-- I know it. It's on the 1966 "Eddie Albert Album." I confess it isn't one I thought worked particularly well. Will have to listen again!

what a beautiful post. thank you. as a kid i was a huge GREEN ACRES fan. i'm watching it again as an old man and looking over all the history of the actors. i'm finding out just what an extraordinary human being albert was and this piece is very touching.

Thanks, Movie Girl! Maybe my memory is playing tricks on me. I am a silly old romantic. If you have it and give it another listen, perhaps you'll post it here?

This poem has always been one of my favorites. I once loved a woman named Jenny and yes, she kissed me.

It's a more standard ballad that would have been popular in the 40s probably. I liked it, but not as much as the "little Child" song you posted. That was very unique to me. Even though I, too, would have prefered if a real girl sang it. Eddie's probably smiling right now, looking down and seeing what you're doing to recognize him after all these years.
