Agreed, Emmylou Harris is a treasure. A "national" treasure, I would amend, on the grounds that the art she's created transcends political boundaries and touches the feelings of listeners the world over. Rather, I say that she is a Human Treasure, an unfading source of light in an increasingly dark world.
Her voice melts my heart, often reducing me to tears - and I'm a hardcore headbanger. (Zeppelin, Zeke, Iron Maiden, Ozzy.. These are a few of my staples.)
Huge respect to Daniel Lanois also.

Emmylou is a national treasure. Lanois as always is great.
-
Beautiful emotion in her voice. My favorite version of this song.

un ottimoesempio di come Daniel e Emmylou insieme riescono ad esprimerre il meglio di loro regalandoci bellissime emozioni.
-
just not the level i would expect from either of them. her voice needs rest and he does not add anything that contributes to make the song better.

I agree. It just falls flat. Voice sound tortured rather than lovely.
Bad mix with the lead guitar. Sounds like Lanois barely knows the piece.
His playing adds nothing.

So, this song isn't on a CD of his or hers? Just that little snippet on Slingblade? Anybody know?
-
Did Emmylou ever release this version with lyrics? The only one I have found is the brief and haunting clip from the Slingblade soundtrack...

Hello, just played this again...and chills...so beautiful...Emmy is a goddess.

Such a pure voice.

This is such a stunning cover of the great song Shenandoah sung by Emmylou and Daniel - The Wrecking Ball is one of my favorite albums of all time and the two of these great artists left a great gift to us.
