Wanna have fun with a Jake brake on a Foden with a C10 cat.............. try driving down a steep hill with cars parked either side of the road. Let the revs drop down and listen for the car alarms to start going off. I had about five go off on the way down a hill in Brighton... grow up?.........not on your life. (Could do with some smileys on here)

Where I drive in the hills I find the best gear to be able to run down the hill on the engine brake and have it hold the speed steady and not have to use the brakes(air) at all. Thats the proper way of doing it.. Choose the right gear BEFORE you start down the hill

@ZoeToots Fancy seeing you here! I asked about the song on one of your videos a while back. My grandmother has an English neighbor, I think he still calls them lorries, so he stands out quite a bit in the US.

For those who don't know Jake Brakes or a Jacobs Brake is a Switch You can flip to cause the engine to use it's own Compression against itself to Slow the Engine which when in Gear includes slowing the Truck down without the use of the Brakes which can Overheat with repeated or continous usage down a long Downgrade. It does generate a lot of low bass noise, so some places have signs posted saying No Jake Brakes Here. Usually in Urban Areas because the people who live there whine about the noise!
nice view, how much weight do you haul in those euro trucks?
rodedawg74 3 years ago
Up to 44tonnes in the UK + Eire, usually 40 throughout europe.

I gotta say...when you first passed the traffic it scared me! I'm so used to seeing it coming on the other side! GREAT video! I enjoyed the sound of your truck.

A lorry is a truck to most people in the world, but to us from the UK lorry is the correct term, trucks are american.
